Thanks so much for being a part of The Sun club950 community – over 60,000 forum members and we’ve only been live since January! We want to reward you by making the site even better.
This could mean being able to review your £9.50 holidays or post photos, scrolling through Top 10s and regular prize drawers or it could mean all of these things! Go on, tell us what you want next.
-
Two things that are needed, in my opinion:
1) Ability to post 'clickable' URLs, would be very handy when posting links to the FAQs etc when getting repe****ive basic questions.
2) More moderation, or at least more visable moderation. There is very little 'official' input into the forum from anybody. If the forum is in fact intended to be relatively autonomous, then perhaps some volunteer moderators from the community could be utilised to at least keep threads tidy and to quickly get rid of spam.
-
I agree with Bazzy, with plans in place to stop newbies/spammers posting links.
Also we'd like to see a Dog section,as that would help dog owners find the information they need quickly and easily.
-
I would love to see a section "pay only ...." with all the parks that are £9.50/£15 only instead of having to click on every single park to see at the bottom.

This very thread is a perfect example of what is needed for this forum - you have asked a question, people have replied, and then nothing. No further responses or acknowledgement from Admin whatsoever.
In the meantime, the forum is being neglected and riddled with spam - just look at the 20 most recent posts, 12 of these are spam (mostly consisting of gibberish), it is difficult to spot the genuine posts from people who have questions and it doesn't look like a very welcoming place when it is full of nonsensical spammy posts.
So I repeat my earlier post and ask for more moderation, please. Just to keep the forum tidy and in order, and to show people that they are actually being listened to. This doesn't necessarily have to be paid employees, you could utilise volunteer moderators from the community who have limited functions to move posts & suppress spam.

Lately even reports of Spam are being ignored.

Lately even reports of Spam are being ignored.
This is now beyond a joke.
Over 100 spam posts reported and ignored.
I will be looking at who to contact letting them know that the forum has been infiltrated by spammers and despite the posts, reports, and begs for help from the two people who really care about this forum..ie me and Baz things are getting worse.
-
Posts are finally being deleted but the moderation team remains the same.
That's like putting a plaster over a stab wound.

It's a quirk of the board, you can lock your own thread for no apparent reason. OP presumably ticked the box without knowing what it meant.
get rid of this quirk please :)

I'd rather the spam problem was sorted out first!

I've tried so hard to get through to them, even going higher up.
Like hitting my head against a brick wall.
I no longer report the spam posts.

I was trying to leave a review for my last sun holiday but it won't let me it keeps saying date isn't valid as it's in the past but it wasn't????

Modify message don't work.
Just stuck on Loading forever >:(

Still no closer to sorting out the spam then?
I've just checked in to see if there are any recent posts... Out of the most recent 54 posts, 51 of these are utter garbage just making a complete mess of the forum. 51 spam posts in a 4 hour period is ridiculous - it's not difficult to put measures in place to prevent this.
I don't have the time or patience to sit here and click report on each of the 51 posts I'm afraid.
-
...and another 50 this morning since my last post! Spammers are having a field day.

Yup, as I expected. Loads of people with similar issues to me. What an absolute joke. Haven have told me I have made two bookings for the same weekend, same names, etc etc, which Obviously I did not! They are now wanting to charge me double the service charge, etc. Charged twice for one holiday. No email back from the Sun, no one to call. Absolutely disgusting service

Here's my feedback. It's pretty shabby when you can make booking in August 2015, to go to Pontins Prestatyn for the May Bank Holiday 2016. You pay The Sun in Aug 2015, you get a confirmation from The Sun in Aug 2015, then in January 2016 Pontins ring you direct to say "we've sold this break direct for more money than we sold it to you, so we're cancelling your holiday".
So you contact The Sun, they say we can't help you, Speak to The Sun holidays group. So you speak to The Sun Holidays Group, yes the one's who took your money and sent you a holiday confirmation, and they say well it's not our problem YOU need to speak to Pontins. All Pontins will say is ".......yes this happens quite a lot."
So the booking confirmation you send our needs to be amended to inform it's just a "information pertaining to a holiday you may, or may not have booked with The Sun, depending on whether it can be sold elsewhere for more money" document.......essentially of no value at all.
As usual, the only person who suffers in this situation is the customer who made the bookings/plans 8 months in advance. Obviously if the customer actually wants to cancel the booking I would get penalised as no refunds are possible, but the suppliers cancel a paid for and supposedly confirmed holiday.....they of course suffer no penalty.

I live on my own with my wee dog. My wages are very low. I was so excited to book one of these holidays as I haven't had a break for a long time. When I got to my caravan I was disgusted. It was old and in a bad state. It wasn't cleaned properly and I wouldn't of even allowed the staff to stay there. It was tatty. Like I say I'm on low wages and this break meant a lot. I've gone on these holidays before but I was upset at what was offered. Very sad and still am regards Sandie

Feeback on a recent holiday -
Stayed at Seaview Holiday Park, Sennen Cove. I don't think that you should continue to offer this as an option in this offer. It is far below the standard of the other parks that we have stayed at through The Sun. Arrived on 02/09/2016 to find that all facilities are closed - no club house, no bar, no shop. Surely 02/09/2016 is not classed as out of season? Staff were rude (we arrived to a member of staff working on check in arguing with other Sun Holiday customers, she was very unhelpful, quite aggressive and patronising). Our caravan had a very unpleasant smell, like damp and like the furnishings hadn't been cleaned for a very long time, there was a dead moth on our oven hob and dead flies on the window sills. The site required a £30 deposit, which I have not been required to pay elsewhere. The deposit was refundable on departure and we were advised to return between 12-1pm that same day to collect it if we wanted cash (which we had paid). Upon return the office was shut. Other holiday makers were waiting around too waiting for a member of staff to turn up. Finally we hunted one down at about 12:30pm. Microwave and TVs were additional charges.

i am absoultly disgusted with the sun holidays! i booked a holiday for 4 people at pontins pakefield for 3 days. 28/10/2016-31/10/2016. just for three days i was expected to pay £150 and thats without buying bedding for the accommodation. when i called to discuss this matter further i got told by pontins and the sun its not their responsability to amend or change any holiday and my only option was to cancel and lose my £38.00 deposite. ive never done this before as i am a first timer and im absolutly disgusted with the way i was spoken to and how the matter was addressed. ive had to dishearten my children by now explaining we can not have a holiday. i wouldnt advise anyone to book a £9.50 holday. its a total con!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know what upgrades you've requested but 28th October is a PAY ONLY date at Pontins Pakefield
Without upgrades and bedding you pay £9.50 each deposit, which you've already paid plus £10 adults and £5 per child per night for Half Board.
If you havent requested upgrades go back to Pontins Pakefield and explain this.
We stayed at Pontins Pakefield for 3 nights Half Board during this summer holiday and we all had a great time
There was 3 adults and 3 children,we had 2 apartments and paid a total of £345 for all of us Half Board.
To me , during the summer holidays that represents very good value for money.

Website kept crashing upon opening and the final code being released. Caused multiple issues with parks being lost, dates entered not being compatible bookings being lost right up to the payment page. I ended up booking a park i did not want because each time i chose the park i wanted it said dates unavailable. This morning i have checked and my first choice park is available. I am devastated..

You could phone the Sun helpline.
Call the site direct and ask for their advice.
It might be that they would take the extra paid into consideration when working out the extras ie service charge etc
If not you would need to phone the Sun helpline and ask them what happens in this case.
