Good parks to go to without a car?
« on: January 02, 2015, 11:24:07 am »
Does anyone know if there are any parks which are close to a train station/town centre and have good activities so you could visit without a car?
Thanks.

Searles at Hunstanton is within walking distance of everything you might want, has good on site entertainment, 3 bars and also a chip shop, a shop and has a Tesco opposite the entrance.  The site also runs a "train" that takes you into the town and further should you not want to walk.  The resort is directly behind the beach as well.  It is also a great site with lots of entertainment and facilities (on site family shows, sauna, indoor and outdoor pools, a gym, a spa and more).

Dawlish in devon has a train station, so parks 124 125 are about a ten minute walk, we drove to parks but we went to exeter for day and to Paignton zoo without a car using the train as the kids wanted to experience going on a train.

Lots of options. Hoburne Blue Anchor has a steam train that runs from the campsite to various local towns. Anywhere relatively 'touristy' often has good public transport, what kind of areas were you looking for?

Caister, Gt Yarmouth, we go there, (non drivers) plenty of activities for kids, direct access to the beach, but stop outside site, takes you directly into town centre. Highly recommended.

I\'m not sure if Hunstanton is any good, there isn\'t a train station anywhere near it as far as I know. Weeley Bridge in Essex is right next to the station, there\'s only one train per hour in each direction and noise from trains is minimal even though it runs alongside the park. They have a clubhouse and outdoor pool - the entertainments crew are fantastic with all age groups, but if you need more in the way of full-on activities it might be a bit quiet for you - hope this helps!  8)

Haven in Clacton/ st osyth is a good park, loads to do and is close  to the town centre for beach, shops etc. The train station is about 15mins away but the bus drops you right outside the park and only costs around £2.50.

Park resorts ty mawr, Wales is on main bus route so easy access to everywhere, we went last year and going back this year. Golden sands, Wales is apparently close to train station and on bus route too, haven't been but heard good things from family
