Better than expected I hadn't been on a caravan holiday for years, and was pleasantly surprised. The park was lovely, with the caravans well spaced. We had a free upgrade from a bronze to a silver, so had 3 bedrooms for just the 2 of us. The caravan itself was well equiped and clean. The only complaint we had was there was no pathway between the roadway and the caravan so ended up carrying mud into the caravan. There was plenty of wildlife in the park, we sat and watched the squirrels gathering their acorns every day. The club house was better than expected, I had snacks there and they were good and reasonably priced. The lager was also good and again reasonably priced. It is a fair walk through the park to Dawlish Warren itself, especially if like us you have mobility problems. We took a train to Teignmouth, a lovely scenic route. Also drove to Torquay and up to Dartmoor. The staff at the park were all pleasant and very helpful. Would stay here again, if we were in the area. All in all a very enjoyable 4 days!

Brilliant holiday Of all the sun holidays we have been on this has been far the best, situated perfectly and the amenities were spot on.

Lovely Place Had a lovely weekend at Golden Sands for my daughters birthday. We aren\'t usual caravan people but we had a very nice time. Unfortunately as much as the caravan was very nice, it smelt awful of dog (and i have a dog myself) apart from this and the awful selection for the sunday roast, the holiday was overall very fun!

Amazing site, caravan room for improvement Had a fantastic week in Devon at this camp site through sun holidays. Was very welcoming, loads to do whatever the weather and the private beach was gorgeous. Had family come with us who booked same rated caravan through haven directly and when it came to it there's was much nicer and bigger so was disappointed with sun for this. Been going on at least one a year, up to three a year for nearly 13 years and got to be one of top three camp sites I've ever stayed on and will return when back. Just think Sun should align ranking of caravans with the parks themselves to manage expectations

Fantastic Holiday We booked a long weekend here through the Sun Holidays in July 2014. I was pregnant with 3rd child so didn't fancy flying. We had a fantastic holiday. Our then 8 and 9 year old loved the pool, it was a short walk to a beautiful beach lined with coloured swim huts. We had a lovely walk along the cliff into Paignton, This was the perfect base and beautiful location. We visited Paignton Zoo and Babbacombe Model Village. The caravan was spacious and clean as was the site. We felt the site was the perfect size as we have been to others since which were too large and busy for our liking. Hoburne has good entertainment, a nice atmosphere and isn't so busy that you can't get a seat. The food was good, though the service was slow and the waiting staff didn't seemed a little confused as to what was available on the menu. All in all a fantastic holiday. My partner has never been to Devon and he was so impressed he couldn't work out why he's always holidayed abroad (I have explained it's not always sunny in Devon).

Not the best holiday park First time with Park Holidays and stayed at Golden Sands in Dawlish, Devon. We upgraded to a gold caravan which wasn't bad but I'm not sure it should be classed as gold. I would say it was standard, so not sure what the basic caravans are like. But we didn't mind as we knew it was a cheap holiday so it wasn't bad value. The actual entertainment complex was very disappointing. Can't comment on the evening entertainment as we didn't use it but the arcade wasn't worth bothering with and the restaurant was just awful. We had been to a Haven park recently and found staff at Haven were really friendly but with Park Holidays there was no rapport between staff and holiday makers. I ordered a burger from the restaurant and it completely disintergrated into water when i bit into it, and i couldn't finish it (i always finish my food!!). We were going to use the swimming pool at the complex but we heard someone say there were no changing facilities at the pool!!! And the outside play areas were very tired and there was no area to park by them. The nearby beach was also a disappointment as the tide was in for the duration of our 7 day holiday! There is one ramp down to it but the tide was over the ramp. If you walk further on down the path then at the end you can access the beach but you have to walk down steep steps so its not accessible with a buggy and there is a sandy path from this point which leads to the beach I believe, but its not possible to push a buggy over this. On the plus side, at dawlish warren there is an area where theres a restaurant (the Boat House) and a couple of shops, arcade and a fun fair with adventure golf. The Boat house did nice food and if you sit upstairs there are great panoramic views of the sea and theres a small soft play area for the kids. The arcade in dawlish warren was great, plenty to do for the kids, they loved it. We will stay in Exmouth devon cliffs next time as they have a lovely beach. Be aware that the price of £9.50 for the holiday is just for 3 days in the basic accommodation. If u go for 7 days, upgrade to gold and have entertainment passes it works out at around £300 in total for a family of 4.
